Information Technology Audit Fundamentals - Online Classroom

Your Competitive Advantage

This comprehensive 2-day course will provide attendees with the foundation knowledge and capabilities to plan an Information Technology (IT) audit program, conduct performance audits of IT systems and operations, and to work with or supervise those with higher level technical skills in IT audit. A wide range of IT topic areas will be covered.

The Information Technology Audit Fundamentals course will focus on applying recognized 'best practice' IT governance and management frameworks that provide the logical and intuitive foundation for developing and conducting an effective IT audit program. Participants will consider relevant 'real world' business case studies within structured workshops, and also obtain audit programs that can be used in their workplace.

The approach taken in this course is to gradually build upon the existing professional knowledge and skills of participants. No previous experience or background in IT audit is expected. This course is designed for:

  • Audit management
  • Internal auditors who are or will be involved in IT audits
  • IT auditors wishing to enhance or refresh their capabilities
  • Those who provide oversight and supervision of IT auditors (including oversight of outsourced service providers), and
  • IT professionals and others seeking a more thorough understanding of audit perspectives and methodologies.

Course Objectives:

  • Comprehensively understand the IT audit process and gain skills and knowledge across a range of IT subject areas.
  • By completion of the course have the capabilities and knowledge to develop an IT audit program and undertake audits of IT topic areas.
  • Appreciate the context of IT auditing in differing business scenarios.
  • Know where to obtain additional information and resources to develop 'best practice' audit evaluation models.
  • Be able to supervise and critique the output of IT auditors
  • Appreciate the changing circumstances of IT audit within the emerging technology environment.
