Risk Based Auditing: Online Classroom

Risk-based auditing provides internal auditors with a methodology to help focus their efforts on an organisation's more important, high value and high-risk elements. It allows auditors to test and conclude how effectively the organisation's management has assessed, controlled, and reported on risk. Risk-based auditing points auditors to where they can make the greatest impact and add the most value to the internal audit process.

This course explores designing an audit program that prioritises your organisation's risks, verifies that they fall within established risk appetite boundaries, and provides assurance that risk management processes are both sound and effective. You will learn how to perform risk-based audits that comply with international audit standards, align your internal audit process with your organisation's risk management strategies and governance, and add value to the process.

Benefit from the Right Topics:

  • Greater management certainty that risks have been properly identified and actioned
  • Appropriate management of risks within the established risk appetite parameters
  • Identifying and responding to residual risks
  • Proper management oversight of risk identification and response processes
  • Proper reporting and documentation of risk mitigation and response activities

Tangible outcomes:

  • Understand the relationship between strategy, governance, risk management and controls
  • Learn to use a risk-based approach to define and focus your audit activities
  • Perform risk-based audits that comply with international standards
  • Learn to incorporate a risk-based approach to all steps in the audit process
