You have 180 days to register, schedule and sit for the examination after application approval. The examination is only offered in the testing windows as listed above. The first exam registration is included in the application bundled price. Retake examinations are available for an additional fee.

  • Do I need to be a member of IIA NZ?
    No, however membership will allow you to take advantage of preferential member pricing.

  • How do I become a member of IIA NZ?

    Please note
    : if you have applied for membership with IIA NZ, please wait until your membership is active before you create a profile in CCMS. This will ensure that the correct pricing is applied.

  • What happens if I apply for the CIA Challenge Exam but do not meet the eligibility requirements?
    If it is determined during the validation process that the candidate does not meet the eligibility requirements, the application is denied. No refunds, in part or whole, will be provided once the application is submitted.

  • I am currently enrolled in the traditional (3 part) CIA programme and would like to enroll in the CIA Challenge Exam.
    This can be done through CCMS. Select 'Help' and open a new case requesting to inactivate your CIA programme. Once this is processed, you can select 'Apply to the Certified Internal Auditor programme' and select 'CIA Challenge Exam'.

    Please note there are no refunds or transfer of funds from the traditional 3 part CIA programme to the CIA Challenge Exam.

  • What are the CPE reporting requirements for the CIA professional certification when a candidate successfully completes the CIA Challenge Exam?
    Certified Internal Auditors are required to report CPE hours on an annual basis. Newly Certified Internal Auditors are immediately awarded 80 CPE hours. Candidates who successfully complete the CIA Challenge Exam will need to report their CPE credit hours for the first time no later than 31 December 2022.
