Senior Internal Auditor

Here at the City Council we know our strength comes from our people, working together as one team to create results. Our focus / aim is to partner with management to promote and enable a strong internal control environment and support a culture where risk is well managed to enable success.

The Council's Internal Audit team strive to add value and provide assurance by offering objective pragmatic advice in their independent role.

As a Senior Internal Auditor you will lead, plan and deliver audit engagements, working with the Head of Risk and Audit, other team members and potentially our co-sourced consultant. You will build sound relationships with process owners and business managers, working alongside them to quickly understand their processes and implement a sound approach to test and assess controls. Your review outcomes and recommendations will be well supported with appropriate context and causal analysis, and have practical application.

You'll possess a sound and demonstrable understanding of internal audit methodology, with strong interpersonal and communication skills enabling you to plan, evaluate and complete reviews effectively. Your experience and background will include auditing with potentially an analytics or IT focus, but might also include specialist financial, forensic or procurement auditing. Whatever the expertise, you can apply yourself to a comprehensive audit approach.

You will be comfortable using your initiative to ensure recommended actions are understood and implemented, further supporting managers with best practice internal controls advice and guidance.
