Cybercrime is growing and evolving at an ever-increasing pace. Cyber incidents can cause financial and reputational damage for businesses, organisations and individuals as well as impacting the personal wellbeing of staff and customers. To counter these threats, we need to work together to protect New Zealanders. Jimmy Butcher, Principal Security Architect with the NCSC's Regulatory and Advisory branch teams up with Brianna Reece, Principal Advisor at the Financial Markets Authority and Stephen Lynch at the Service Owner for Cyber Security at Inland Revenue to explore cyber threats and scams targeting the financial sector.? Join us for a presentation on relevant threats including ransomware, email spoofing and email compromise. We will provide simple steps to help protect you, your team and your business. Our panel of experts will discuss the issues and answer your questions. Join us to help keep the financial sector safe from the scammers.

Jimmy Butcher, Principal Security Architect, NCSC Regulatory and Advisory branc

Jimmy is the Principal Security Architect with the NCSC's Regulatory and Advisory branch and has experience securing some of New Zealand's largest organisations. Jimmy has 20 years of experience in information technology and security roles with organisations in local and central government, financial services, energy, technology, transport, manufacturing, exporters, healthcare and media.

Brianna Reece. Principal Advisor, Financial Markets Authority

Brianna Reece is a Principal Advisor at the Financial Markets Authority, where she works in the Regulatory Services team - the first responders to complaints about unlicensed market activities and scams. She is passionate about finding innovate, collaborative and often "out of the box" ways to disrupt and respond to financial crime. Brianna joined the FMA in 2023 after 10 years as a Senior Investigator at Ministry of Primary Industries and Inland Revenue, where she led multiple high-profile investigations and prosecution. ?

Stephen Lynch, Service Owner for Cyber Security, Inland Revenue

Stephen Lynch is the Service Owner for Cyber Security at Inland Revenue. He is a dedicated professional with over twenty years of experience in software development, system engineering, solution and enterprise architecture, and security. He worked for both UK and NZ governments in the intelligence and security space for most of his career before leading the architecture practice for the New Zealand Defence Force. Assisting with their Cyber Security programme led to a renewed passion for being part of the operational environment and a shift to leading Cyber Security teams for financial and government organisations.
