With the release of the new Government Procurement Rules, this session will examine what the changes mean in practice, where the key integrity and fraud risks sit, and how internal auditors, governance leaders, and procurement professionals can better identify and respond to red flags. Drawing on recent experience and practical examples, the discussion will also reflect on fraud and corruption indicators arising in government procurement settings, and the role of strong oversight, transparency, and assurance in supporting public trust.

This session is expected to include expert insights from TINZ contributors, including procurement specialists, and is designed to support IIA NZ members in understanding how procurement risk, fraud prevention, and internal audit intersect. It will be particularly relevant for those working across the public sector, risk, assurance, governance, and procurement functions.

Purpose of the webinar:

The purpose of this webinar is to provide members with a practical and current overview of procurement integrity risks in New Zealand, including the implications of the new Government Procurement Rules, emerging fraud and corruption red flags, and the role of internal audit in strengthening assurance and accountability.

  • identify common fraud and corruption red flags in procurement activity
